Criminal investigation into tax evasion and the applicability of tax exemptions in relation to engineering construction works closed in record time

We are pleased to have successfully advised an Austrian oil & gas engineering company in a criminal tax investigation conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Hight Court of Cassation and Justice.

The case, which involved allegations of non-payment of full income tax and of the social health insurance contributions for over 1,000 employees, concerned the correct application of certain tax exemptions in relation to engineering construction works.

The investigation was closed in only 4 months after the initial searches at two of the client’s offices.

The investigation required combined tax, real estate development and white-collar expertise.

The defence was a joint effort of PNSA and Budușan & Asociații.
